Reckless Hearts by Jax Calder
5.0
This book contains a lot of things that I typically dislike in books, but it all came together here to work really well. This book contains not just a third act breakup, but a bonus second act breakup too! and it also has a MC who becomes famous and a somewhat unequal power balance in the relationship . But this story is just so believable, between a MC who is very flawed, and another MC who just truly loves him despite a lot of difficulties. In the end I believed their HEA, and it felt like the struggles they went through were necessary in order for both of them to get to a place where they could be happy and successful in the relationship. I think the difference between this and most third act breakups is that this one felt absolutely necessary and best for both MCs at that time. There was actual, believable personal growth shown by both MCs, something that I don't always see in romance novels where the HEAs come a bit more easily.
