The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

I was truly excited for this one, It had amazing reviews (one coming from one of my best friends) the premise seemed so intriguing and had tropes I enjoy and i had the honor of buddy reading with another best friend of mine so everything just seemed right.... right??
well...sort of?
this is my first book from Ashley Poston and I must say, she's truly talented, her writing has this ability to make the most mundane places and situations feel so beautiful and vibrant. she writes everything with this romantic view and it made the reading experience so much better
but with that being said....
The Seven Year Slip (for me!) was missing a bit of, emotional depth. Most of the reviews talk about how emotional this book is and i wish i felt it, it started off very strong in the beginning but lost me a bit towards the middle. There were moments were I definitely saw what Poston was trying to do but it was left feeling a bit empty and vague at times. I felt very distant from it in a way, I enjoyed Clementine as a FMC, she was realistic and I found myself relating to her and I loved Iwan (although i find him too perfect? like he was just so poetic about every single thing that at times he sounded rehearsed) The ending definitely pulled the book together, it went into more depth (I would've appreciated having that in the beginning but oh well!) Overall, i think i just expected more from this but i definitely didn't hate it!
