The Legend Next Door
by Jesse H Reign
oh my goddddddd, JHR’s done it again, y’all
I think I said it in my review for Poetry on Ice, but Jesse just keeps getting better and better and idk how they do it.
Ben and Jeremiah’s story was so heartfelt and emotional and healing and I can’t say enough good things about it. There were multiple times where I was looking like this 🥺 at my kindle bc of how hurty the hurt/comfort was but the comfort that followed???? close to tears every damn time
(maybe this will become more coherent in the future, but I feel like I’ll edit it too much if I try that oops)
💐 dual alternating first person
🌸 ex-pro hockey player x jack of all trades become neighbors
🌺 potentially the cutest child character in a book
💐 accurate depictions of grief and loss
🌸 THE SPICEEEE
🌺 Jeremiah’s so awkward at times that you wanna both laugh and cringe and it’s beautiful
•MILD SPOILERS BELOW HERE•
random backstory, but yesterday, I attended adeath and dying presentation for school and the presenter’s pov was regarding the loss of her husband.
it was really eye opening and I feel like Jesse did a lot of research ongrieving the loss of a spouse bc SO much of what Ben described and wished for with his grief was spot on to what the presenter had to say. even if I hadn’t been less than 24 hours out from an absolutely soul crushing presentation, the descriptions of Ben’s grief would’ve still brought me to tears
thank you sm to the author for the ARC ❤️
