Did not finish book.

 the premise looks interesting, but the novel was so hard for me to get through. the writing seems so focused on being stylized and prose-y that the actual substance of the novel falls through. the writing is pretty... in small doses. having to read more & more & more flowery writing felt tedious. i can appreciate the vision, but the execution wasn't it for me.
