Stoner by John Williams

It was crazy to me how much acceptance he showed. In almost an admirable way but also sometimes in a way I had to wrestle with. Like is it right to never fight your wife separating you from your daughter, or your daughter’s alcoholism separating her from her son–and instead even reframing them as positive? Is he succumbing or rising above it. I did enjoy the writing and I’m realizing I like stories about meaningful yet mediocre and tough lives
