Twelve year old Jack Sawyer one day learns that his mother is gravely ill with cancer. In a desperate attempt to save her life, Jack embarks on an epic quest that takes him through a parallel world known as the Territories.
In the Territories, Jack discovers that he possesses a unique ability to "flip" between his own world (our world) and the parallel universe of the Territories. He learns that the key to saving his mother's life lies in finding a powerful and mystical object known as the Talisman.
This book gets dark, and Jack's journey falls from one ugly situation to the next. Its a heart-wrenching book which encompasses themes of pain, loss, and destruction. However, amid this darkness, the novel shines brightly with themes of unwavering friendship, heroic determination, and the profound depths someone will go to save the ones they love.
Also, I just have to say, WOLF IS EVERYTHING. I absolutely loved Wolf. His character is so freaking heart warming, I just want to shrink him down and keep him in my pocket, all safe and sound.
Thank god that I have Black House waiting for me on my shelf, cause I'm already ready for more!
