I was one of "those" girls -- the ones who read any horse book they could get their hands on, and more than once at that. I cannot count the number of times I cried over Black Beauty, and though it's been a long time since I read it, I still think fondly of this story. For any child going through the "horse phase", this book will be a beloved favourite.
