I absolutely loved this book. I understand that for some people it would be too distrubing and shocking but I feel like it fits the story. I love the way this book was written, like a poem almost with many metaphors and beautiful sentences. You read about this young girl loses her brother, but mostly about how this affects her and her family. Her family slowly falls apart and neglects her and her siblings. The backdrop of this religious family living on a countryside makes it feel even more secluded and claustrophobic. Reading this story through the lense of a this young girl who has the most rich imagination and fantasy was beautiful, but also painful at times when you read about her disturbing and intrusive thoughtpatterns.
