I don’t rate memoirs (especially real-life stories so raw), but this book is a great example of why we need complete access to safe reproductive care. The fact that ’til this day in many countries women still struggle to get safe abortions would probably disappoint Ernaux beyond measure, but in turn it proves the importance of this book all the more.
