Not going to lie, I was expecting this book to be more speculative than what it actually presents. What I thought the book was going to present to me is exactly what is happening in the book, which isn't bad per se but I thought the book was going to go on a subtler route than this. The book examines organized religion and how often the people in higher position use its dogma to abuse its own followers, especially women, in the most literal way possible. This book is also very brutal in its depiction of violence. Like 70% of it depicts some level of violence so please check any content or trigger warning if it concerns you.
Now with all that said, I still can't help but enjoy the book a lot. It's very fast paced and while the conclusion ended up being more straightforward than what I would've liked, I still enjoy the "adventure" that our protagonist goes through while living in this sacred convent. I also like how the book explores how organized religion often conditions women to hate on other women to further perpetuate its own agenda.
overall still a short enjoyable read hence why I'm giving it a four star
