Lumepimedus by Ragnar Jónasson
2.0

A young police officer Ari Thor receives a job opportunity in the remote Icelandic town of Siglufjördur. Hoping for the start of his career to be peaceful and uneventful, he takes on the challenge but is disheartened to see that his girlfriend does not wish to leave Reykjavik. Shortly after his arrival, a local prominent author falls to his death. It seems to be an accident, but Ari Thor has questions.

I have a deep affection for Iceland, its landscape, and the secludedness that snowstorms can bring in the winter. It is men versus nature, where nature usually wins and men need to adapt. This book covers the surrounding environment beautifully so, that I can vividly imagine myself there. However, the plot left something to be desired. I didn't quite understand the story as a whole. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have read this book as an audiobook, because I was confused by the multitude of characters who had similar-sounding names.
