Wow. It's been a long time since a book has captivated me so completely. I devoured this in a day, something I haven't done in years (it's harder when you have little kids).
Is this a perfect book? No. But it's the mark of a truly great writer that any mistakes or issues I had with it were completely overshadowed by its emotional and intellectual prowess.
I will be thinking about this book for months to come and I will be recommending it to anyone--as long as you're not looking for a cozy, adorable story with clear heroes and villains. This story is compelling, dark, thought-provoking, and visceral. It questions everything and I loved every minute of it.
Thank you, M. L. Wang for a truly magical experience.

Update: Almost a year and a half later, and I still haven't read anything quite as good as this book. If you're not a wreck when you finish this novel, it's time to turn in your humanity card.
