I didn’t dislike the book, in fact it was going to be between 1-2 stars until the ending plot twist saved it. But the beginning was VERY confusing. Maybe had I read it rather than listened to the audiobook version it would have been easier to keep up with, but it just kind of felt like a bunch of new characters spawning with little to no explanation of who they were or how they were involved. It did all come together eventually, but I did have to listen to the first chunk of the book more than once to try and understand. It felt like 2 stories poorly mashed into one.
You have Nora and the Twins, with the cheating and switching personalities. And then you have the mother & sick child, who was partially a victim of Munchausen by proxy. Only linked together by Hugh taking it upon himself to murder mothers with this syndrome due to his childhood experiences with it.
