I need to caveat this review by saying I have not seen the movie. I thought it would be fun to read the book before seeing the movie. The world building and descriptions were fantastic and the main character compelling. That being said, there is pretty much no plot and the main plot line is never resolved. I have a feeling it gets resolved in the movie or something but as a stand alone book it's kind of a let down. You are growing with this character and seeing her skills develop and then you get to the climax and absolutely nothing happens. There is some piddling around and it has a good emotional payoff but it seriously has the weakest ending I've ever read. If the book just finished what it started, it would probably be a 4.5 star read for me but it doesn't. That being said I liked the rest of it enough to rate it above a 3.
