Edit: upon re-read I think I was a bit harsh on my review. This was still a very entertaining read.

I have a thing for books about mermaids. I also am going through a phase at the moment, where stress has gotten the better of me, so I am only in the mood to read mindless books. I had seen several reviews for this series where the readers said it was a quick and addicting read. I decided to give it a shot. In the end, it was just okay. Nothing too spectacular. I figured out the twist ahead of time, and I am not much into romance heavy books. Let me take that back. I don't mind a romance that takes the back seat to another theme, a doomed romance, or one that proves to be a good study of characters and relationships. However, I am not into the typical YA or Shirtless man-on-the-cover book that centers around the tug-of-war game played by two people infatuated with one another. This seemed to be driven specifically by that plot line. Entertaining for many younger YA readers possibly, just not for me. Not sure if I will continue with the series...even though I am curious as to how one part of the plot will play out. We shall see. It is safe to say I won't be journeying into this world anytime soon, though.
