A Whisper of Solace
by Milena McKay
There are not enough stars available to give this book what it deserves.
It took me a long time to get into this book. I had just finished The Headmistress and wasn’t quite ready for another angst-filled book.
But this book is worth all the angst. Neve Blackthorne is a complex, complicated character. She is one of my favorite ice queens. Easy to hate because she is always right and doesn’t mind doing whatever she has to do to keep her studio profitable. Easy to like because she is loyal to the people in her inner circle who do their jobs well and are able to meet all her demands.
I really enjoyed the secondary characters, Dr. Moore, Barnaby, Gustavo, and her son, Harlan. Even her ex-husband and current husband deserve some attention.
Audrey, the spokesperson for the studio, is an amazing woman in her own right. Smart, strong, fearless, and able to stand up to everything Neve can throw at her.
If you enjoy reading about ice queens, this book is for you, but there is so much more to this book.
