I love Mary Kubica’s books for the suspense factor and the ability to make me suspect everyone and everything. Usually the plot twist shocks me, but this time wasn’t really the case.
My favourite character definitely had to be Christian. I was so worried this would be a typical toxic domestic thriller but he was so sweet and faithful to Lily despite everything (to the point of it being toxic in a different way but anyway) so I hated her for doing what she did in the end. The ending was sad though because of it.
The ending seemed a bit rushed and I had some questions left unanswered: what happened to Ryan and what was his deal? He definitely had motive to kill Jake so the fact that he was one of the suspects but ended up with no conclusive story was confusing. And why was this all happening to poor sweet Nina? I would very depressed if I ever ended up in her shoes. But also, what happened to her afterwards? I hope she thrived.
