i really didn’t expect to love this book as much as i did when i picked it up randomly in target last year but oh wow i was hanging on every word of it. it highlights the injustices faced by black families who own heir property which i such an important part of american history that affects so many people today despite these families having been emancipated generations ago. such beautiful writing that made me care so deeply for each and every character and savor every single sentence.
