Willowdean can be a hard narrator to root for at times- hypocritical, self centered, and much too hard on herself and those who love her. This can be said of most people, especially when you’re in high school. She shows growth and I think the author does a good job of showing that she’s capable and willing to grow. Having a protagonist whose internal fat phobia is on full blast does not mean advocating to keep your fat phobia, and I think with a good headspace and critical thinking, this can be an enjoyable story about someone learning to love herself and growing up
