With all the bad reviews about this book, I expected it to be cringy and bad. I haven't read Twilight, so I can't say that this book is a ripoff of it or anything. But from what I heard of Twilight, I don't think it is.
I actually really liked this book. Sure it was cliche, it was a good cliche book. Like the one you have fun reading and not spend the whole book cringing and hating it. This book is kinda like those bad dangerous boy and good girl kinda book, but with vampires, dragons and witches.
Grace had just lost her parents in a car crash and was sent to live in Katmere Academy in Alaska run by her Uncle and live with him and her cousin. Of course her first day doesn't go uneventful and she meets the most feared boy of Katmere Academy, Jaxon. She feels connection with him as he warns her to watch her back.
Some other things happen, most of which include Grace getting hurt and Jaxon saving her. And the realization of someone trying to kill Grace.
Overall the story was good but in my opinion, Grace was told the truth a bit late and it kinda dragged the story. And also, Grace's cousin Macy told her about the different groups in the academy but that wasn't much shown in the book except for Jaxon's and it should've been. Otherwise I really liked the storyline and the characters were good. I liked that Grace wasn't one of those whiny female characters. And the different references were really cool and oh the chapter names! They were funny and amazing.
The ending kinda shocked me and I am sooo waiting for the next book. I loved the chapters in Jaxon's pov, it was fun to read them.
This book is perfect for you if you like vampires, feared dark but protective boys and shocking endings.
