Persuasion by Jane Austen

5.0

Can't believe I've never rated this one. It's a tight race between this one and P&P as to which is my favorite Austen novel. Nothing beats Captain Wentworth's letter in this novel, though. If ever there was something to swoon over, that letter is it. What I love about this book is it shows a more mature, wiser, and introspective side of Austen. This is a quieter novel than her others, and it's one that's all the more satisfying as a result. I love Anne, love Wentworth, and couldn't love the two of them together more. This is the penultimate lush, romantic tale about second chances at love, and about recapturing the heart of the one you thought got away.

Perfect comfort food for the reader's soul. I'll never get tired of this book.
