I really disliked the ending of this trilogy. All of the major events happen off-screen. Vanyel goes away to do something - and in the next paragraph he is back. I felt more like this was a summary of what happened than reading the actual book about it. Maybe there is a companion (no pun intended) novel to explain all of the stuff that was missed from the original series.
