I’m speechless. Sally Rooney’s writing was stunning at times, it felt like reading poetry. The way she captured emotions so effortlessly made every moment hit exactly as it should. I highlighted so many quotes, I just couldn’t help myself.
I fell in love, got angry, felt frustrated and somehow, I hated almost every secondary character while also realizing that their behaviors were just… what normal people do.
I wasn’t expecting to love this book as much as I did. My emotions kept circling through different shades of heartwarming moments, deep sadness, loathing, resignation, confusion. It was a ride.
Shoutout to Lorraine, the true GOAT of this book.
As for Connell, I went from feeling puzzled by him to extremely proud of his growth. I only wish I could say the same about Marianne.
And the ending? It left me feeling like a soup of emotions, like something I can’t quite put into words. Not sad, not happy, just… oh wow.
