Da Vinci's Tiger by L.M. Elliott

3.0

This is not a book I would typically choose. Although I do read historical fiction, this book is different.
I feel that if I knew more about Italian history, I would have enjoyed this more. There are some elements of this society that I was unfamiliar with and did not fully understand.
The story is the portrait of a young woman who does not have a lot of control in her life. She is moved around like a pawn by powerful men in an attempt to gain more power and prestige. In the midst of these maneuvers, she meets two artists. A sculptor and a painter. They are commissioned to create her likeness and she forms an attachment to one of them.
It is a well written and interesting story of a time period and a woman with little control of her own life. I feel that I would have enjoyed it more if I had known about the societal customs of this time period.
