ali hazelwood never misses. this book was fantastic. i loved her first book, the love hypothesis, but i know a lot of people criticised it for the writing being really cliche and cringey because she always described adam, the male love interest, as very large, tall, and muscular, and oliver, the mc, as very short, petite, and small, and people claimed that was their only personality lol. i get why that would be annoying but tbh i enjoyed myself so much in other aspects of the story that i didn't care. but in this book, even though levi is described as similar physical characteristics as adam, i feel like hazelwood's writing has actually improved since the love hypothesis. i feel like the characters in this one have so much more depth, and are a lot more interesting to read about. i love bee and levi individually and together, so much. they are genuinely so perfect for each other. in a lot of romance books, i find, it's usually the male love interest that has trauma from his past that keeps him from accepting being in love with the girl and shutting out all emotion and being super rude, grumpy, and annoying, and the "i don't do relationships" type; but this book was not that at all. even though levi has had family trauma from his past, it wasn't a huge part of the book, and it didn't keep him from loving bee fiercely and proudly. it was discussed very maturely between the two of then, and the conversation felt very realistic which i really liked. the way he treats bee is so wonderful, and even if i thought he was quite annoying at the beginning, he definitely redeems himself and became my favourite character. i think bee is also a really strong MC and i liked her a lot. even though i'm not into science at all, i think bee had way more of a personality than olive from the love hypothesis lmao. anyways i'll stop comparing the two, but this book is just amazing. i LOVED it.
