Windfallen by Jojo Moyes

3.0

Just started and enjoying it in audio form. Update Oct 28, 2014: It took me 5 months to finish this book. I had to relisten to it so many times just to figure out who was who and where the plot was going, that I finally put it in time out for a while. When I finally brought it back out and figured out the characters, I began to enjoy it, but here's the thing. Moyes is a pretty good storyteller, but she really really likes the element of surprise in her characters, bringing them back 30 years after she makes them disappear, not telling you immediately who they really are, etc. In this book the technique was weak and the result was confusing. On the plus side, her characters are never one dimensional, never 100% likeable. And who is? Her musings, or rather her character's musings are spot on, true to life. They're not terribly witty, most of her characters are carrying a couple of extra pounds and this just makes them all the more endearing.
