I feel like there were potential books that could have come from this, but none were able to come to their potential. The result is a shallow dip into three lives with little satisfaction, and no real mystery to uncover. Parallels between stories didn’t form anything deeper. Plot points felt heavy-handed. I didn’t feel any real stakes for any characters.
