Complex and engaging, with numerous characters and extensive worldbuilding. The sheer amount of information presented in the novel could sometimes be overwhelming and hard to follow, but I do think it gives a reader plenty of food for thought. I wish women had played a more important role in the story, though, rather than staying off-page and waiting to be rescued by their male counterparts; considering how many men there were in the story (uncountable), having maybe 5 women who even got a few lines of dialogue was a little disappointing. Hopefully the sequel patches that up! I'm looking forward to it, not least because I want to see more of Kobenan.
