The Crying of Lot 49
by Thomas Pynchon
Something unsettlingly prescient in 2020 about reading a story about a suburban house wife going off the rails chasing down what is most likely a fruitless and hollow conspiracy theory all just to give her something to do with her days. Quite A NONsense idea for a story really.
Writing is absolutely revelatory but the plotting and pacing are lees so. Great introduction to Pynchon though if you're looking for one because it's only 150 pages though to be frank, those 150 pages can feel like 600 at times.
