in the above question of "did you find the characters lovable?"
answer: YESSSSSS

“I love you. I love you when you’re arrogant. And I love you when you’re kind. And I love you when you’re both at the same time.”
just, them *heart eyes, heart emojis, everything*
childhood friends to lovers has got to be one of my favourite trope and you add in my recently discovered love for historical fictions? there is nothing better literally.
the writing is just so good
his grief
his love
her love
her grief
everything is felt by the reader as the characters are feeling it.

and just every character is so woww
Badger and his love for his wife
Lady Marleigh and her lOgIc
young Bartholomew and his adorableness
Miranda and everything about her. she is the loml
and of course
Viola and her strength and her faith and her learning to love herself
Gracewood and his strength and his love and his world view and him getting know himself
and both of them getting to know each other and loving each other
its beautiful, there's no other word for it

you will laugh so much and cry at the pain and cry because of love and the beautifulness
just
TL,DR: yeah, it was a cool book, i liked it. NO i loved it yes. ok bye. oh also, viola is the best aunt
