Interesting, strange, gory - I was quite intrigued by the story. The first half of the book definitely held my interest and curiosity. I am claustrophobic - can't even snorkel, let alone go down in a sub - and, I work with dogs on a regular basis so, after reading reviews, I was expecting to really struggle with this book. I did not! I'm getting to understand that, although I can get enthralled into a book and really feel what the characters are feeling, I am also able to easily emotionally detach from a book in order to avoid feeling the uncomfortable emotions. I can guarantee you that, had this been a movie, I would've stopped watching quite early on in the story!

Overall, not a bad book, but the last quarter definitely had me looking forward to it being over.
