Going Postal by Terry Pratchett

5.0

"A man is not dead while his name is still spoken"

Moist von Lipwig escapes a death sentence and is tasked with rejuvenating Ankh-Morpork's moribund postal service. He has to deal with the rival "clacks" (a semaphore system straight out of Keith Roberts that is also somehow a precursor to a telegraph and the internet) and its board of directors as well as his own nature and his past as it comes back to bite him.

I remember not being overly fond of this one when it originally came out, which just goes to show that I'm an idiot at times. It's hilarious and sharp and surprisingly touching in places as well.
