Say Cheese and Die! by R.L. Stine

So the Goosebumps series has a special place in my heart. Back when i was in around 4th grade i didn't read a whole lot. all the books they made us read were terrible and depressing. Books like "Where the red fern grows". They told us that these were "The best books and classics" so as a kid i figured "well if these were the best, other books must be REALLY bad'. However, i decided to give the goosebumps series a try, and i remember as a kid loving them. in fact, they quickly became some of the only books i'd read.

Fast forward 20+ years and i found myself wanting to pick up a goosebumps book again to see if they were as good as i remembered. and Honestly.... this one wasn't bad.

Short version is, kids find a camera that shows a terrible thing that's going to happen to the person who gets their picture taken. simple, yet effective.

As it's a short J story it can't go into TOO much detail or character development, but for what it shows, i had a good time. the characters could get a little annoying at times, but due to the sheer brevity of the book, i didn't have time to get too annoyed.

It gave just enough details to explain what was going on without going overboard and you could definitely imagine the world despite its limited page count.

It's meant for kids so it doesn't go too bad with the creepy factor, but there are definitely some parts where you could be creeped out if you were a kid.

I definitely have a desire to go back and read more of these and definitely will in the future. all in all, not bad. creepy story with a creepy camera.

3.5 out of 5 rounded down to a 3.
