This is the first book in the series. I love the cover of this book but have no idea why the author chose this picture. I feel it has nothing to do with the story. There are a lot of true historical facts in this story. There are three POV's. Caroline is an American who is a real person. Doc Herta is a German who is a real person. And Kasia, a Polish that the author made up. It was hard to listen to the POV of the doctor and how it really didn't matter what atrocities she did to the prisoners. This was definitely not an easy read, and it was hard to get into at first. It is a very long read. I recommend reading the author's note after the story.
