The Bulletproof Boy by Loretta Lost

5.0

'He has everything a man could want, but has lost the only thing he ever needed...'

I will admit, it took me an undeniably long time to finish this one, but I still loved it nonetheless. Loretta Lost is yet to disappoint me!

This time around, The Bulletproof Boy mainly focuses on Cole and not Sophie, even though she is still the main character of the book. We focus on Cole and his recovery from his near brush with death and I was hooked whenever I was reading it. Albeit, it did take a while, when I was reading it, I was always intrigued and anticipating what was going to happen next.

In this book, we get to learn about Cole's past and his backstory as well as his complicated relationship and past with Sophie. I appreciated the fact that we were eventually introduced to Cole and his 'former' life. I say former, because, well, if you know, you know. (Don't want to be spilling the spoilers left, right and centre, do I?)

I started reading this as soon as it arrived as I was looking forward to seeing how Lost executed the nail biting cliffhanger that she left us on in The Fireproof Girl; loved that book, I did. I cannot wait to pick up the next book, The Shatterproof Heart, will this woman ever stop?! I sure hope not!

Also, as a sidenote, I absolutely loved that cheeky crossover in chapter thirty three. I read the first book in the Clarity series a long time ago and I am stumped as to why I never carried on. Anyone care to explain? I feel like it is a good thing that Lost wrote this crossover into her book and I thought that it was really well executed.

To finish, I would like to say again, I think that Loretta Lost is such an amazing writer and has such an amazing way with words, I look forward to reading more from her in the near future.
