I think all Americans should read this book so the hearing world can understand Deaf culture, the Deaf Community, and Deaf history better. I think it would benefit the deaf community as well. I loved how Nyle’s childhood proves that having language access from birth is vital. That forcing deaf children to speak, lip read, etc actually deprives them of their true potential bc they are missing out of all the other things to learn.
