Rally
by Devney Perry
Rally is the third of four books in the Treasure State Wildcats series, and arguably, the best! I think one of the most appealing things about this series is that the main characters encompass a few different seasons of life. Junior/senior year of college and years post college. What it means to be a student (both prominent and unknown, rich and poor) and what it means to be someone who is well past graduating college and into their more mature years (where a lot of people get married (or not), have kids (or not), mortgages, etc.). You get my drift.
Faye and Rush are two people who could not be more different; from their backgrounds to their personalities, their parents (or lack of), their majors, their notoriety, and their bank accounts. Somehow, their chemistry is off the charts from the first moment. This is an incredibly rare realistic look at unplanned pregnancy and how these two opposites have to learn each other and how to handle this unplanned curveball (if you read it, you’ll recognize ‘curveball.’)
A few notes - I want to recognize the beginning scene with Faye and how hard it is to be a woman. Her situation is actually a nightmare as a woman alone and I LOVE how her weapon of choice becomes a thing throughout the book.
Backwards hats are effing hot. Finally, we are recognizing this. I’d love to see some art of Rush with his backwards hat. Maybe throw in Maverick, too. Speaking of Mav, I shed a few tears at a very specific moment later in the book. Given the history of what had happened up until that point, it was an important but fully necessary moment. And well, I also cannot wait for book four, because I know it is going to be his.
This was such a quick read for me but so satisfying. I gave it five stars, I will give it five stars forever. Now, can book four beat this for me? Let’s see!
Thank you to Devney Perry and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read and honestly review Rally. I LOVED IT!
