Separation Anxiety by Laura Zigman
2.0

Honestly, this book has all the ingredients to be a book that I should love but something about it just didn't really work for me.
The main character spends so much time obsessing over what other people think of her without ever talking about it with any of them that I assumed that at some point that would be resolved but instead it wasn't even addressed. The author tells us that Judy and her spouse are separated but we don't ever really SEE that they're separated or how that separation has affected their life at all except that they sleep in different bedrooms--which many happily married people do.
I listened to this on audiobook and at one point I saw that there were 17 minutes left in the book and I was shocked because exactly nothing was anywhere near a conclusion. The ending was, more or less, "and we're still dealing with all of the same ole same ole". I don't mind a realistic ending but if nothing that the reader cares about about is resolved in any way, I don't understand the point in telling the story.

Honestly, this review sounds really annoyed and bitter but mostly I was just confused by this book. Usually I have no problem putting down a book that isn't working for me but I felt like this book should have been working for me--I just needed to keep going. And then it was over.
