For the Love of a Pirate by Laura Nelson
3.0

Let me start with saying that I enjoy a good romance from time to time. It's not my usual genre but once in a while I feel the urge to feel to love through books.

For the Love of a Pirate is a very specific book. It's not so much a love story, it's more spiritual and a because there is a whole alternative afterlife world I guess you could find a little fantasy in there too.

Kelly is just an ordinary middle aged woman who decides to go on a blind date which will change her life. It's not at all about the man though. The one thing that makes her whole world shake is the place of the date - a pirate exhibition in a local museum.

The moment she sees the first display she feels mesmerized and as if something, or someone, wants her to know a lot more about the pirate story.

Slowly she discovers a whole different world through her dreams full of 18th century pirates and she discovers her connection to one of them.

I read the whole book in two sittings. It was just a perfect story to sit with on a couch after a long day at work - relaxing and comforting. The plot was moving so fast that it kept me going.

There are some things I didn't quite enjoy though. I feel like some of the storylines weren't really connected to the main story like for example Kelly's work related problems and it got me confused a couple of times. From time to time I found myself lost in the timeline and I wasn't sure how much time has passed since the dreams started.

Overall it was a very original story absolutely perfect for a rainy autumnal day.
