Definitely dystopian. Idk if they're escaping from regular life and it's struggles or heightened struggles.

Like what are the wars? Perhaps there should have been more world building? Also, did not understand Andrew's character change. World building might've helped that, too. And of course "they" wanted Tom to win. He's the embodiment of what the patriarchal society rewards.
