The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

4.0

This is an easy read and I really like the main character Don. He used to be an adorable, highly structured and functional character until he met Rosie, then his world collapsed and changed, thus the title: The Rose Project. The strong point of this book, certainly, is the characterization. I love every character in the book as they are all "faulty" in a way, and yet strives hard for the people they love. To be honest, I like Don as he was in the beginning of the book and though I appreciate the efforts he dedicated on the Rosie project and the extent he went to pursue this project, I'd rather he remained the good old Don and eat lobsters every Tuesday. What's the problem with structure anyway!?

The main problem with the story is the instable plotline. While the title is The Rosie Project, Don went through so many projects along the way it seems the novel itself lost focus at some point. It's a pity because it would be most interesting if Simsion had dwelt a bit more on the wife project instead of other projects.

Really, the plot is worth 3 stars but Don and Rosie, Jean and Claudia made my life so much more enjoyable that I had to bump the rating to 4 stars.
