This is one of the few books that I had to take pauses while reading because some parts of the book hit a little too hard and was a little too relatable at times. I haven't read any other books in this format so I'm surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. It can be a bit content heavy but I enjoyed it all. A lot of thoughts that I have towards colonization and the education system was reflected in this book. While the racist comments from students and faculty seem to happen on every page, this is a very real reality for POC, even if you live in a more liberal area. The systems that are in place today have foundations in white supremacy and superiority. While it may seem possible to work the systems to your favor, sometimes the problem needs to be eliminated at the source.
