Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

I went into ToD not knowing this was Chaols story and that Aelin, Dorian, etc - they are rarely touched on and do not appear in ToD. I will admit I did not care for the book at all until maybe chapter 45-50 and definitely wanted to skip it to get to KoA but holy hell. Do not skip it. This was wonderfully written, so well thought out and just wow. It is a slow start and we leave Chaol prior to ToD not feeling very great about him. This isn’t just Chaols redemption story, this about a young girl who was saved by our Queen, our Fireheart without even realizing who was saving her - and in turn, took that kindness and saved countless more lives. Who practiced patience and gratitude and brought so many tears to my eyes. I will say as a first time ToG reader I am glad I did not tandem read Empire of Storm and Tower of Dawn but would recommend the tandem on a re-read. I just finished this book and am reeling.
