Song of Susannah - The Dark Tower 6
by Stephen King, Stephen King
i’m prepared to accept that my opinion on this might change based on the revelations that will doubtless emerge in the final installment. HOWEVER: currently i’m feeling like this whole book could have been bypassed entirely. my anti-natalist leanings mean i rlly struggle to care about the pregnancy storyline and if this had been ditched most of this book could have ended up on the cutting room floor. (interesting that ‘wind in the keyhole’ was a .5 addition but that felt more worthy of its place than this)
one of king’s flaws in my humble opinion is his seemingly very light hand when it comes to editing (‘it’ is another example of king that needed some editing shears to streamline it) and this was another example for me. i don’t feel like this book really DID anything for the plot (or fun and background culture like ‘wind in the keyhole’ did) so whilst it was fun to read - as per - i’m keen to see the back of it and get back to the nitty gritty.
