The Vanishing Half
by Brit Bennett
this book was amazing. seeing the intricate lives of all the individual characters, and how they panned out, and how some eventually connected together was beautiful. seeing how the characters dealt with their individual problems, abuse, race, motherhood, and colourism was fascinating in just how many nuances each situation provided. really reminds me of how, even if you're born under the exact same circumstances as someone else, the fact that your can still turn out differently compared to them. all the characters were so vivid and real with what they dealt with, and how they went about life. the side characters were adorable too. reese and early are really where it's at! also, i found the parallels between some characters (the twins and their children) interesting to analyze. jude was also such an admirable character. i was hooked throughout the whole book, and this book filled me with feelings of hope, empathy, and nostalgia.
