This is brilliantly written and interwoven. It’s like a master novel on what misogyny does to women from start to finish. There are many characters that explore the different facets of misogyny. But then you have characters who, though troubled in their own way, have found unconditional love and acceptance. But that’s only like two of the characters. Everyone else is very human and very messed up. Blandine is just the flash point. The whole mess is layered very specifically to feel the messiness of people and American society. There is violent content. There is sexually explicit content at a few points. But mostly, it’s an unwinding of people and their many flaws, mainly a common thread of what men and adolescents do and are capable of.
Graphic: Adult/minor relationship, Animal cruelty, Animal death, Infidelity, Misogyny, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Violence, Blood, Medical trauma, Injury/Injury detail
