Pine by Francine Toon

Pine was an odd little read. Although it was deeply atmospheric and unsettling throughout, it fell flat for me on the actual story. The main conflict and action of the book seemed to take place and was resolved in about 30 pages at the end, as though the writer suddenly remembered that it ought to be there after so much build up. If you’re looking for a well developed and intriguing storyline, this isn’t the book for you. If you’re just here for the eerie atmosphere and Highland setting? Enjoy.
