The Stranger in the Lifeboat
by Mitch Albom
Albom’s tale about an unlikely assortment of survivors in a lifeboat, who meet one who claims to be God was entertaining, easy to read, and very intriguing. His alternative portrayal of God was reminiscent of The Shack to me, so if you hated that book, you likely won’t enjoy this one either. Another fun structure of this book is that it shifts back and forward in time and perspective. I love stories that aren’t perfectly linear since they aren’t as predictable, so this was fun for me. I’m not necessarily saying I agree with everything in it, but it kept me very entertained. Once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down until I knew what was going on.
