Sea Prayer by Khaled Hosseini
5.0

What a book! My eyes got caught by this beautiful cover, but this book is just as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. .
First, we have more gorgeous illustrations by Dan Williams. Second, and most importantly, this is a tale that goes straight to your heart and punch it!
This story is inspired by the refugee crisis we had back in 2015, where thousoands of muslim families went on boats trying to reach to safety in Europe. It is a prayer for the sea to have mercy on the narrator and his wife and child, but is also a prayer to find kindness in their new home: "I have heard it said we are the uninvited./ We are the unwelcome./ We should take our misfortune elsewhere." As an European I can relate to this, because I cannot count how many times I heard in the news countries arguing who should have who and how many, trying to shove the problem to other countries.
This poetic narrative is very short. Took me about five minutes. But its simple poetic style makes it more than enough. It is a rollercoaster ride, that continues even though the book has ended. It is worth all the money, especially since some of it goes to the UN refugee agency, UNHCR.
