The Awakening by Kate Chopin

5.0

'The Awakening' is a compelling exploration of a woman who places great value on discovering, and retaining, her sense of self within the confines of a society that expects women to be wives and mothers above all else. Chopin's language is beautiful, and the fact that this novel was published in 1899 does nothing but add to my interest about and respect for this novel.
